President's Report
Julie Hadfield
Hello everyone,
We are moving the Product Show for this year to May. We were unable to secure a venue in time to give everyone time to plan and promote the show. Stay tuned for more information soon.
Our next meeting is this Tuesday, February 24 at Mutation Brewing (5825 Roswell Road NE Sandy Springs, GA 30328) in their Speakeasy. To help encourage registering online, we are adding a $5 fee for paying at the door. Registering beforehand helps us plan for the meeting, but if you are unsure if you are going to make it, you are always welcome to come without registering.
We do not want the cost of attending a meeting be the reason you cannot attend. If you need help covering the cost of attending, please reach out to a board member. We will get you a sponsor. There is absolutely no shame or judgement, and it will be handled with discretion. Only the person sponsoring you will be made aware.
Our annual Cheers for Engineers event is Friday, February 27. We will be renting a box at the Gwinnet Gladiator’s game at Gas South Arena. This is a family friendly event so feel free to bring your partners or family members. There are still some spots left, but there is a limited number of spaces in the box. Registration is live on the website.
We had a WOA Galentine’s Dinner earlier this month. We had 9 participants come. It was a great time of socialization. Thanks to McWane for sponsoring the event.
We are still running a contest this session to raffle away a trip to serve as a Delegate for the Atlanta Chapter at the 2026 Convention in Oklahoma City. We will be allotting points for coming to meetings and events throughout the session. At the May meeting we will be handing out raffle tickets in relation to the number of points. We will also be giving out prices at different point levels. We will have more information at the meeting and ask any board member if you have any questions about it.
If you are interested in being on the board next year, please reach out to me.
As always, don’t hesitate to contact me.

VP Education Report
Reza Bahador
Happy February all! We are almost there - we are almost out of this cold! As we chug along toward Spring and as our first quarter’s crest the half-way point I come to my favorite newsletter article to write. Announcing the 2026 ASPE Atlanta Chapter’s Student Scholarship recipient!
This year’s selection was the most difficult to determine in the 6 years since I have been our chapter’s VP of Education. The applications were brimming with work, school, extracurricular activities and scholastic accolades and accomplishments.
We typically would have announced the awarded recipient last meeting, but decision came down deriving and focusing on the minutia of the applications.
Without further ado, I’d like to congratulate this year’s ASPE Atlanta Chapter Student Scholarship recipient:
Kayla Vallere
Kayla is currently a student at the Geogia Institute of Technology as a Mechanical Engineering major.
She plans to pursue a career path in the renewable energy industry.
At school, Kayla is a GT1000 Team leader, supporting incoming first-year students by providing guidance and advice with career development, personal support and decision making while doubling as the Director of Programming for the Residence Hall Association which plans student events that promote wellness.
Kayla comes from a large and supportive family and has had a taste of the MEP world professionally as an intern at the Thompson Ehle Company under the tutelage of our very own Frank Vastakis.
Unfortunately, labs run through the end of June on Tuesday nights, so we will not get the change to meet Kayla until the May meeting.
Congratulations, Kayla!

Affiliate Liaison's Report
AAron Siegel | JOE WELSH
Hello ASPE members! As mentioned in many of the Affiliate Liaison’s Reports, Aaron Siegel and I are focused on increasing engineer attendance at the monthly meetings and the Product Show. I want to thank Pulley & Associates, Harry Warren, Pointer Agency and Evans & Associates for helping us increase engineer attendance by encouraging engineers to attend the dinner meetings. They will be doing the same for the Product Show. We'll share details about the Product Show soon, at this point it looks like the date will tentatively be May, 12th. Please plan to attend to see the newest products and learn about the latest innovations manufacturers have to offer. If you are an affiliate, whether a manufacturer's representative, factory sales representative, or a representative from a company calling on the plumbing engineer community, please bring an engineer to the January meeting! The dinner meeting is free for any first-time attending engineer and is a good way to introduce the engineer to the Atlanta ASPE membership. We appreciate your support!
Ambassador's Corner
Dennis Connelly
Hello members and friends of ASPE-ATL. Welcome to February!
The groundhog has spoken; maybe it is accurate this year, or maybe not. The early weeks seem to be consistent with more winter, but I am seeing tulip poplars and the crocuses peeping out, signaling spring is near. We had fun watching the Super Bowl (at least some of us did), and this year’s Winter Olympics have been incredible! Both have been a nice diversion!
The ASPE activity year is moving quickly, and this has already been a busy month for our Chapter. Our WOA group had a nice event and we have recognized National Engineer’s Week with some fun and ice hockey! There is still lots planned for the coming months as well, so quite a busy year shaping up!
Our Chapter continues to grow, thanks to their leadership. Not only are membership numbers increasing, but our chapter meeting last month was standing-room-only with new faces and lively conversations joining for our technical programming. Please join us to keep that momentum going for our February meeting at Mutation Brewing in Sandy Springs. In addition to the fellowship and technical education you will gain, we currently have a contest running to win a delegate seat to our National Convention and Expo in Oklahoma City, OK, and your attendance gives you points in that lottery. A real prize!
ASPE is the premier organization to represent and expand the practice of plumbing systems design and implementation. This is a critical need for society at large, as we are faced daily with challenges to the health and sanitation in our nation as well as globally. Being an ACTIVE member lets you build your talents and ideas through study and even casual conversation with your peers. ACTIVE means not only your annual dues, but participation with other ASPE programs; participating in the CONNECT conversations, viewing various webinars sponsored by Society, and attending chapter events, like monthly meetings, Product Show, Golf or Clay outings and WOA and AYP events. Come on; get off the sideline and get in the game!
Our members include folks from the design side, the product representatives, and the contractor installers. Each plays a distinct role in this work, and each supports the other in those efforts. It takes all of us together to make us a strong chapter and society. AND it takes new voices added to the conversations that give us the spirit and energy to plot a new direction. Please consider joining in the chapter leadership to be a part of the Board when elections come around later this spring.
I cannot close without mentioning the sad state of our nation today. The actions and rhetoric coming from our national leaders is destabilizing and sowing distrust and conflict unlike any we have seen recently, if ever. The overturning of health and safety standards are especially troubling. I urge each of you to be vigilant and engaged. Speak up about what you support and contact your elected leaders, locally and nationally.
I hope to see you at our next event! That is all for me today. Please reach out to your Chapter leadership at [email protected] or you can reach me to talk about anything, any time at [email protected]
Stay safe and I will see you soon.
